BASICS OF THE THROWING MOTION
In throwing sports some pathologies which clinically affect the shoulder, elbow, wrist and hip are caused by the use of incorrect biomechanical movement patterns (throwing mechanics). If prevention is better than cure, it is essential to be familiar with the integrated mechanisms of functional anatomy, biomechanics, and neurophisiopathology that represent the very basis of these complex movements. This is the only way to anticipate and, where necessary, treat those dysfunctions which, if left uncorrected, may result in anatomic lesions. Movement analysis, prevention strategies, specific rehabilitation treatments, targeted surgery and post-surgical rehabilitation, must take into due account an in-depth knowledge of the sport specific demands and ultimately the proper sport biomechanics to truly return the athlete to full function.

This course has been intended for basic physicians and physiotherapists to define the indication and treatment after new and revised surgical techniques
Opting for surgical or rehabilitative treatment for example in shoulder prosthesis is nowadays extremely difficult due to the different technological opportunities. Therefore some presentations will focus on specific rehab protocols necessarily complying with the rationale of the surgical intervention performed…
